Can I leave my butter on the counter at room temperature?

While it is not recommended to leave butter out for long periods, it is possible.  However, over time, surface mold can develop and the butterfat in the butter can take on a rancid flavor.  Our best recommendation is to keep your butter covered and refrigerated.  About an hour before use, remove it from the refrigerator and let it warm to room temperature.  Then after use, cover the butter and place it back into refrigeration.

Can you freeze butter?

You may freeze butter up to four months, there will be a slight change in the texture and flavor and this change should be small in the first four months of freezing.  It is recommended that you place the original packaging in a freezer bag to help seal in the moisture.  Slow defrosting in the refrigerator is also recommended, to help it re-absorb the moisture lost during freezing.
