Facts and Recognition

We have been recognized for our products, for our employees and for our involvement with the communities in which we operate.

Product Awards
Since before our founding in 1909, many talented local cheesemakers were recognized for their cheesemaking skill. A cheese from our county won its first award in 1904 at the St. Louis World’s Fair.

We have carried on that tradition, establishing a reputation across the U.S. and consistently earning top honors at industry events and competitions.

In 2008, at the National Milk Producers Federation annual cheese contest, we won six awards for our cheddar cheeses. A young Tillamook medium placed first and second in the mild category, Vintage White Medium won third in the medium cheddar category, and our sharp cheddar won second in the sharp category. Our Vintage White Extra Sharp also won a second and third in the extra sharp catregory.

Our award-winning year continued at the 2009 Oregon Dairy Industries dairy products contest where we received five quality awards, including the Ice Cream Sweepstakes award after winning first place for our chocolate, Vanilla Bean and Oregon Strawberry ice creams. We also won a first place for our medium cheddar and second place for our butter.

Company Awards
Many industry associations have also recognized our dedication to quality products, plant safety and environmental stewardship.

Most Admired Company in Oregon

For the third year in a row, we were recognized by the Portland Business Journal as a Most Admired Company in Oregon for agriculture or forestry products. In 2009 we ranked seventh on the list.

2006

International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) presented our cooperative with a Dairy Industry and Safety Recognition Award for our trucking operations. This is the third safety award from IDFA and the second for our trucking operations. In 2005, TCCA was recognized for safe trucking, and in 2004, IDFA recognized TCCA with a plant safety award for large facilities in the cheese product category.

2005

We were acknowledged by Dairy Foods magazine as Processor of the Year, a recognition bestowed on a dairy producer each year for financial and management success, industry service, commitment to quality, and market leadership.

Community Service Awards
Tillamook Cheese is very proud of the recognition we receive for our community involvement. We also value the many notes of appreciation we’ve received over the years from the organizations we support and the communities we serve.

2005
Santa Ana Community Building Award
Our cooperative received a Community Building Award from the city of Santa Ana, Calif., for our work in that community, including our annual park cleanups. Along with the award came commendations from the Orange County Board of Supervisors, the California State Senate and the California State Assembly, as well as a certificate of congressional recognition from the United States House of Representatives.

Youth Soccer Involvement
For our support of the Los Angeles area youth soccer league, we received awards of recognition from the Los Angeles soccer league.

Newspaper in Education
We received a certificate of appreciation from the Headlight Herald newspaper for supporting Newspaper in Education, which allows youth to have access to newspapers in their classroom.

Agricultural Organizations
We are a big supporter of youth in agriculture organizations such as the Future Farmers of America and 4-H Leaders Association. We help support dairy judging teams, purchase animals during the fair and sponsor scholarships. We have been awarded certificates of appreciation and sent many letters of thanks from these organizations and their members because of our continued support.

Letters of Appreciation
We have also received letters of thanks and certificates of recognition from area chambers of commerce, the Oregon State University (OSU) Foundation, Tillamook County Family YMCA, Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) program, area high school sports programs and local and state food banks.

Proud to Serve the Community
More enduring than any public recognition for our contributions is the satisfaction we enjoy by creating a superior product and giving back to our communities.
